Le 1er mai, c’est Journ\u00e9e internationale des travailleurs<\/strong>. Pourtant, la f\u00eate du muguet<\/strong> n’est pas directement reli\u00e9e avec cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement. Pour trouver la source de cette coutume<\/strong> ancestrale, il faut remonter bien plus loin !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selon certains historiens, c’est le roi Charles IX<\/strong> qui aurait instaur\u00e9 ce mouvement. Le souverain se serait vu offrir un brin de muguet<\/strong> le 1er mai 1560 et aurait trouv\u00e9 l’attention tr\u00e8s touchante. Chaque printemps, \u00e0 cette date pr\u00e9cise, il aurait d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d’en offrir un aux dames de la cour. Quel gentleman ce Charles IX ! Si l’anecdote historique est difficilement prouvable, elle fait sourire ! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lors de la r\u00e9volution fran\u00e7aise, la fleur blanche<\/strong> prend une tout autre signification puisqu’elle devient le symbole du Jour R\u00e9publicain<\/strong>, qui n’est pas c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 le 1er mai<\/strong> mais le 26 avril. Le muguet est remplac\u00e9 par l’\u00e9glantine rouge<\/strong> qui devient le symbole des travailleurs et donc du 1er mai. Plus tard, lors des manifestations ouvri\u00e8res de 1889, l’\u00e9glantine rouge deviendra le symbole des revendications puis du sang vers\u00e9 lors d’une manifestation particuli\u00e8rement violente le 1er mai 1891 \u00e0 Fourmies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais revenons au muguet<\/strong>. La jolie fleur revient au go\u00fbt du jour en 1895, popularis\u00e9e par le chanteur F\u00e9lix Mayol<\/strong>. Ce dernier aurait arbor\u00e9 sur le revers de sa veste un brin que lui aurait offert une amie, en faisant son porte-bonheur<\/strong> et relan\u00e7ant par la m\u00eame occasion une tradition ancestrale !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Et pourtant, ce n’est qu’en 1941, sous l’occupation, que la belle plante de la famille des Liliac\u00e9es<\/strong> devient le symbole de la f\u00eate du travail<\/strong>. Le mar\u00e9chal P\u00e9tain d\u00e9cide d’associer de nouveau le muguet \u00e0 cette journ\u00e9e, jugeant que l’\u00e9glantine rouge trop communiste \u00e0 son go\u00fbt. Comme quoi, un symbole aujourd’hui pourtant bien anodin fut durant des ann\u00e9es le fruit de manoeuvres politiques !<\/p>\n\n\n\n
