Pete Wicks loves dogs and has spent years working with charities to improve their welfare.
He adopted one of his own dogs Eric from Dogs Trust 9 years ago and in this series will spend the summer working with staff at their rehoming centres across the UK doing what he can to help other dogs find their homes for life.
As soon as he arrives the dogs start coming and in this episode we meet Murphy and elderly pug who has some lumps that need investigating and needs to be put to sleep for the biopsy. It’s not a smooth surgery and Murphy stops breathing on the operating table. Can the Dogs Trust team save him?
Pete also meets pregnant Mel who was seized at the border as she’s a victim of puppy farming. Pete’s never seen a dog so scared and after Mel gives birth to a huge litter the battle is on to keep the puppies alive after such a traumatic start to their lives. Eye opening and worrying, but ultimately heart-warming, this series highlights the incredible work of the staff at Dogs Trust.
