The first film follows the pups from the moment they meet their owners (aged 8-12 weeks) through the initial few months (known as the ‘juvenile’ period) as both parties get to grips with each other. After an introduction to each owner and thumbnail sketch of their search for a dog, the story begins with the crucial meeting between pup and owner, and follows the burgeoning relationship between them – the gruelling first few months of toilet training, crate training, chewing furniture, first walks, and early socialisation as the dog becomes entrenched in family life. The film ends with the owners and puppies reuniting to compare notes and discuss the challenges they’ve faced.
