This week on Lost Dog, Found Dog with Clare Balding, we learn some clever tricks for enticing a lost dog home. Reporter Jennifer Reoch visits a family used a pungent fishy potion trailed through their farm to lure their spaniel Molly back; Reporter Dougie Vipond meets Romanian rescue dog Reuben who jumped a six-foot garden fence and only came home when he caught a whiff of the contents of the family vacuum cleaner strewn across their garden – as advised by experienced missing dog finders! When border terrier Terry was stolen from his owner’s car, it threw their wedding plans into disarray. Reporter Storm Huntley meets his owner and hears how she used social media, television appearances and local press to spread his image far and wide and made him too hot to handle. Terry was returned safe and well. Clare finds out about possible changes in the law which could have a positive impact on dog theft, by changing it from a low-risk, high-return crime. And we get expert advice on how to avoid it happening to your dog from pet detective (and ex police) Colin Butcher. BBC Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills joins Clare to learn about the best foods to feed a hungry dog after they’ve been missing, and why it’s important to keep them healthy. And Dr Amir Khan meets gentle lurcher Frank who was found as a stray with horrific injuries, but was nursed back to full health with rehabilitation and the love of his new family.
