Our exploration of ancestry begins in London at the Genealogical Society, where archival records trace Mike’s family back nearly 300 years. With this new information, we travel to Wales, following the path of ancestors through rural landscapes and small villages that still carry the echoes of the past. The journey becomes hands-on as we try sheepdog herding, learning how shepherding has shaped Welsh culture. Next, we experience a unique mental health therapy involving hugging donkeys, discovering how animal connection can reduce stress and promote emotional well-being. With a local forager, we explore edible plants in the Welsh countryside, uncovering how communities have relied on the land for nourishment for generations. The journey concludes in a historic chapel where Mike stands on the exact spot where his ancestor was baptized three centuries earlier—a profound moment of connection across time.
