Even those who have never been to New York know about its many famous neighborhoods and their distinctive identities. Not long ago, few tourists dared venture to Harlem. Today, even the Bronx is becoming trendy. As for Brooklyn, everyone converges there to meet the artists and hipsters of the new economy. But of course, the heart of the city still remains Manhattan. All this comes from New York being a star by itself in cinema and TV series as well as being a force in literature, arts and music. It is the welcoming door to America, excessive, luminous, vertiginous, a cosmopolitan Babel built on one of the biggest ports in the world. New York remains the first American tourist destination.
