E02 | The Blue Zones of Longevity | Destination Okinawa

Live

  • Sunday 19th May at 19:00

Genetic, biological, cultural and dietary factors combine to make the Japanese island of Okinawa a zone of extreme longevity. Why is it that cancer is virtually non-existent here? We'll see that the famous Japanese trio of "rice, fish and soy" is not the key to longevity, but a diet based on plants, lots of green leafy vegetables and endemic sweet potatoes. Self-restriction and strong social ties are other elements that our naturopathic chef and attending physician will discover on site, together with local inhabitants and scientists.
