Cats - playful pets, fieresome fighters and deadly hunters. Millions of us share our homes with cats - they are one of our favourite pets but how much do we really know about these beguiling, intriguing creatures. Cats Uncovered uses state of the art tracking devices and cameras to gain an in depth, scientific insight into the world of the domestic cat. The series seeks to provide the definitive guide to your cat by following a hundred cats in three different environments - a city, a village and a farm over the course of a month. All the data gained from specialist filming, GPS trackers and cat cams is fed back into Cat HQ where it is analysed by scientists and technical experts. In this programme the team look at the way cats communicate with each other and with us. On the farm where the cats live very much like their wild ancestors would have, the cats appear sociable and able to live with each other quite harmoniously but in the city where there are more cats and space is at a premium, life is much more stressful and many seek the company of humans as protection. This raises the question of just how much our cats will change as they travel down the road of domestication and whether our feline friends will retainm or gradually lose, their wild, independent side.
