When Maureen Burn's Collie-Cross Max started moping around the house she thought he might be coming down with something. Max started sniffing Maureen's breath and gently nudging her right breast. When she went to the hospital it was confirmed that Maureen had a cancerous tumor in her breast. Maureen had the lump removed and has now made a full recovery thanks to Max. Daisy the Labrador is one of a team of six dogs training with a charity called 'Cancer and Bio-detection Dogs.' The charity is training the dogs as bio-detectives, optimizing their natural ability to identify cancer and pick up high or low blood sugar levels. Claire Guest, co-founder of the charity and owner of Daisy is training her to sniff different types of cancer, including breast, prostate and mouth cancers, and to find out whether cancer has a generic odor. (UK) Napal, a Black Labrador Retriever is assisting Jason Morgan, a former soldier who was seriously injured on a mission in Ecuador ten years ago- he was left paralyzed from the waist down. Napal is one of over 3000 assistance dogs trained by Canine Companions for Independence or CCI and knows 40 verbal commands. Napal helps Jason with daily activities such as opening the door, turning on the light, or picking up the TV remote and, more importantly, has given Jason back his independence and confidence.
