Danger Dogs

At a secluded location, hidden in the Welsh hills is one of the world’s top dog training academies. But this is not a preparation ground for ‘best in show’ pooches. There are no prizes for pure breeds or good looks. Here dogs that no one wants are given a second chance. Here dogs and trainees are tested and prepared for a life protecting society from drugs and explosives. Head trainer Simon Mallin has served with dogs all over the world and now runs tough courses for dogs and trainee dog handlers to the highest international standards. He teaches everything from drug detection to finding road side bombs in conflict zones. This series follows the highs and lows as would be handlers see if they’ve got what it takes and trainee dogs struggle to make the grade. We witness the triumphs and failures, the good times and the bad. In the first six episodes we will see how dogs that are too much to handle as household pets make perfect drug detection dogs. Although many try to train, only the best make it through. We will witness heartbreak and the triumph as trainee handlers learn in tandem with the dogs in a variety of locations and situations.
