Comedian and cat lover Jo Brand meets the RSPCA officers, vets and volunteers that rescue and protect the nations much loved moggies. This week, Inspector Herchy Boal gets a call to a multi-cat household, where the number of moggies has got seriously out of control. With so many cats comes a whole scale of problems, including one tiny kitten who, without a mother, is in grave danger of not getting the nutrients it needs to survive. Jo Brand heads to Harmsworth Animal Hospital to meet Vet Nurse Eden Hermsen. Eden is hand-rearing a tiny kitten called Pumpkin, who was found alone in a member of the public’s back garden. Jo gets a lesson on what’s involved in helping these little kitties bounce back on all paws. In Yorkshire, Inspector Keira Benham is following up on a call about an injured feral cat called Esme. Having suffered an injury to her paw, Esme has ventured into the home of Andrew Good, who has been feeding her for the last few months, to seek shelter. However stressed and in pain, Esme has already lashed out and Keira has to be incredibly careful approaching this feral cat, if she too doesn’t want to fall victim to a nasty cat bite. And finally, with just an estimated 35 Scottish wild cats left living in the Scottish Highlands, it is one of the rarest animals on the planet. We meet one man who is fighting to save it from extinction. With reported sightings of the wild cat on the East Coast of Scotland, can Doctor Paul O’Donoghue catch a glimpse of this magnificent creature to start taking the steps needed to keep it safe?
